Prairie Ninebark
Physocarpus opulifolius
This large shrub grows 8’-10’ tall or can be cut down each year to retain a smaller shape. It has long, arching stems with pink buds that bloom to delicate white clusters in June, and then return to their pinkish hue as the fruit sets. A member of the Rose family, Ninebark gets its name from the peeling bark that ranges in color as it ages. Excellent bird habitat and commonly used for borders and hedges.
