Seedling Pre-Order & Pick-Up Details
STEP 1: Place your order online
Browse our online seedling store by clicking here. Scroll the list alphabetically, search by category & subcategories listed in the menu on the left, or use the search bar to find your favorites. Bumbleroot merchandise is also available to add to your order for pick-up at the farm in May.
Select your pick-up date at checkout. Please note that we do not ship any seedlings or potted plants. Pick-ups will take place at our farm stand each Saturday in May from 9am-1pm. We will have your order packed and ready for you on the date you select.
Make your payment. You may purchase your seedlings with a credit card or SNAP/EBT. We accept SNAP/EBT for vegetable seedlings and culinary herb seedlings! SNAP/EBT customers can click here for more details. Please note that sales tax will be calculated in your cart and applied to your total. You may purchase additional items when you come to pick up your order!
STEP 2: Pick up your seedlings at the farm in May
Pick-up Details: Seedling pick-up will take place at our Saturday farmstand on the date you selected. Please park in our parking lot and walk across the driveway towards our tent. We will have a display of seedlings (in case you forgot something!), spring veggies and flowers, and other local products available for purchase. Please look for the sign that says “pre-order pick-up” and one of our staff will take your name and grab your order!
Disclaimer: We have done our best to stock our online store with accurate inventories of each seedling variety. In the unlikely event that an item you have ordered is unavailable on your pick-up date, we will replace your item with a similar variety. If a similar variety is unavailable, we will issue a refund to the card you paid with via our online payment system.
STEP 3: Get your garden started!
According to the Farmers’ Almanac, the last frost date in our zip code is May 2. This may be different for you depending on where you live, and of course anything could happen with the weather! Some years we have unexpected frosts as late as early June. Many of the plants we have available are cold hardy and can be planted as soon as you pick-up, but some are less tolerant to cold, wet conditions. The following is a list of plants that we recommend waiting to plant until nighttime temperatures are 50* or higher:
Vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, all squash varieties (summer & winter), melons
Herbs: All basils and lemon verbena
Flowers: Cosmos, zinnias, sunflowers, nasturtium, marigold, and most important - dahlia tubers!
Some of our fast-growing summer crops will come in “peat pots” which can be planted directly into the ground. We have used these for plants that don’t do well with root disturbance - these pots will decompose, adding organic matter to the soil.
Included with your order at pick-up will be our “Growing Guide” with tips and best practices for planting and caring for your seedlings.
