Maine Won’t Wait.

On December 1st, 2020 the Maine Climate Council released a four-year Climate Action Plan for the state of Maine. The video above was made to mark the one year anniversary of its release and inspire Maine people to take action.

#MaineWontWait outlines strategies to reduce Maine’s greenhouse gas emissions, sequester carbon, and make Maine’s environment, economy, and communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change. Bumbleroot owner Melissa Law is a member of the Climate Council — her role is to represent farmers, as we are on the front lines when it comes to climate threats. The plan includes strategies to help farms prepare for, mitigate and adapt to climate change, from protecting valuable farmland, incentivizing farmers to adopt climate-friendly practices and encouraging consumers to buy local. Flip through the plan.

Melissa Named to Maine Climate Council

Bumbleroot owner Melissa Law was named to the Maine Climate Council in 2019 with a renewed term in 2023. She is the “agricultural representative” to the Council. The Council was established to advise the Governor and Legislature on climate change mitigation and adaptation. The Governor has set goals of reducing Maine’s greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030, and 80% by 2050. Climate legislation is a critical step forward for our state, and Melissa is excited to be a part of this important process.
