We use a combination of tractor-based practices as well as no-till and reduced tillage methods and our entire operation is certified organic. All planting, weeding, harvesting, and processing is done by hand. In 2024 we employed 12 farmers - about half year-round and half seasonal - and these folks are the heart of our farm. We utilize 6 high tunnels and 6 caterpillar tunnels to extend our growing season into the shoulder seasons and winter months.
We offer competitive wages & benefits for our employees. For seasonal staff, we offer paid time off, overtime pay, paid holidays during peak season, workers compensation insurance, Labor Movement workshops and training, free vegetables and flowers from the farm, and employee discounts for products we buy in from other local farms and food producers. There is room for growth at Bumbleroot and potential for year-round employment based on performance and the farm’s needs. Returning employees are offered additional benefits.
